After graduating from the University of Missouri, Bruce joined the national accounting firm of McGladrey & Pullen. Bruce spent one and a half years as a staff member in the audit department.  Bruce then transferred to the tax department where he reviewed tax returns, prepared tax research memoranda, and represented clients before federal and state taxing authorities. 

Bruce transferred to the Reno office of McGladrey & Pullen in 1983 and was promoted to Tax Manager. Bruce was subsequently admitted to the partnership in 1986. Due to the acquisition of the Reno office by Grant Thornton, Bruce joined Grant Thornton in July of 1988 as a Tax Manager and the Tax Department Head for the Reno office. He was admitted to the partnership in 1990. 

Bruce started Bruce W Thee & Associates in January 1997, a CPA firm which specialized in construction and real estate, tax matters, business valuations, and litigation support. Bruce retired as managing member of the firm in September of 2020 and now serves as a consultant to the firm, renamed to Edmonson Bullard & Co., Ltd.

Bruce has been engaged as a lecturer, speaker and writer for various commercial and public service organizations including the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, KNPB Channel 5, KCRL Channel 4, KOH radio, the Reno Gazette Journal, The Wall Street Journal, Changing Times magazine and USA Today.

Bruce enjoys riding motorcycles, fishing, SCUBA diving, and working with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.
